The Black Fives Foundation works to research, preserve, showcase and share the vital pre-1950 history of African American basketball teams – the “Black Fives Era”. A celebration of black community and black culture, this collection was inspired by the all-black basketball games that were held in ballrooms when the players weren’t allowed in white gyms.
